They are aquatic plants, there are two species: Nelumbo nucifera is one of them belonging to the genus Nelumbo. Called vulgar Sacred Lotus or Indian Lotus, and sometimes on the Nile rose. The longevity of its seeds that can germinate after ten centuries, is famous which has been tested by germinating seeds found by Egyptologists.
